PP/PET Strapping Selection Guide

1. By Load Weight & Strength Requirement
PP Strapping: Tensile strength 50–200kg. Ideal for light-to-medium loads (e.g., cartons, plastic parts, agricultural products). Benefits: good flexibility, low cost, compatible with manual/semi-automatic strapping machines. Perfect for daily bundling in SMEs.
PET Strapping: Tensile strength 200–1500kg. Designed for heavy-duty/high-demand loads (e.g., steel, timber, building materials, large industrial components). Impact-resistant, non-breakable, and capable of withstanding bumps and stacking pressure during long-haul transportation.
2. By Application Environment
Room temperature & dry environment: Both PP and PET are applicable. PP is preferred for cost control.
Outdoor/humid/high UV environment: Prioritize PET strapping. It has better weather resistance, UV & moisture resistance than PP, and won’t age or become brittle after long-term storage.
Low-temperature environment (e.g., cold chain, frigid zones): PET strapping maintains good toughness and won’t crack in freezing conditions. PP strapping tends to turn brittle at low temperatures and is not recommended.
3. By Strapping Machine Type
Manual strapping machines: Fit thin PP strapping (0.5–0.8mm thickness). Labor-saving, no power supply needed, suitable for scattered, small-batch bundling.
Semi-automatic strapping machines: Compatible with both PP and PET strapping. Recommended thickness: 0.8–1.2mm. Works with hot melt bonding technology, offering medium bundling efficiency.
Automatic strapping lines: Prioritize PET strapping (1.0–1.5mm thickness). It features excellent dimensional stability, less jamming risk, and adapts to high-speed assembly lines. Ideal for mass bundling in large factories.
